This is a great gauge for measuring mils to the 10th of a mil. There is no converting or guesswork involved. Each individual hash mark on the dial face represents 1/10th of a mil, and the numbers printed on the dial face represent whole mils. If you are measuring film that is 4.5 mils thick, the needle on the dial face will point to 4.5. It's as easy as that. This is simply our most reliable, easiest to use dial thickness gauge for measuring mils by the partial mil increment. (The resolution of .0001" is equal to 1/10th of a mil.
